Red Gasket Around Connector Causing Connection Problems
I moved my perfectly working2 day old Chigee AIO-5 for BMW from my old bike to a brand new one yesterday and immediately ran into problems, but after a bit of trial and error have found the problem.
The Chigee wasn't connecting to the bike, i.e. no "Navigator Found' notification, not "TFT-Nav" option on the TFT, but most of the functions including bike data were working.
I cleaned all of the contacts and got a reliable TFT-Nav option, and ability to switch between them, but no Wonderwheel function on the Chigee.
I traced the problem to the thickness of the red rubber gasket on the back of the Chigee that surrounds the contacts. It seems to be very slightly too thick. With continuous downwards pressure I could get everything to work. By heating it up in the sun (35 C here) and keeping some pressure on the Chigee it seems to be all good now it has settled in. If it goes bad again I think the solution might be to slightly thin out the gasket. I suspect there is a small difference in pin height on the BMW Nav Prep on my new bike vs old.
