This behavior applies to all CHIGEE models with a dashcam.
The dashcam is designed to start recording automatically whenever the dashcam is powered on, and to keep recording as long as the device has power. There is no setting to permanently turn off recording.
This is intentional, so that if an accident or incident happens, the dashcam is already recording and you don’t miss important footage.
Normal Design Behavior
- Auto-start: Loop recording begins automatically when power is supplied to the CHIGEE dashcam.
-
Always-on recording: As long as the dashcam is on and the camera is connected, recording continues in the background.
-
No permanent stop control: There is no “Stop Recording” toggle on the dashcam or in the app.
Temporary Pause Only
You can temporarily pause recording in these cases:
However, recording will automatically resume when:
So any pause is short-term only and is not meant to fully disable the dashcam.
How to Fully Stop Recording
If you need to completely stop the dashcam from recording, you must either:
-
Disconnect the camera cable from the CHIGEE dashcam, or
-
Cut power to the dashcam (turn off the device’s power source)
Only unplugging the camera or powering off the dashcam will fully stop loop recording.
