Day & Night Modes with Android Auto on Chigee Display

How the CHIGEE Display adjusts brightness

The CHIGEE Display uses its ambient light sensor to auto-adjust screen brightness (brighter in daylight, dimmer in the dark) for comfort and visibility.

How Android Auto handles Day/Night

Android Auto’s theme (light/dark) is independent of the CHIGEE Display’s auto-brightness. It does not switch based on ambient light from the display. You need to choose the theme in Android Auto settings.

  • You can select Light, Dark, or Automatic in Android Auto settings.
  • Even if CHIGEE auto-dims in a tunnel or at night, Android Auto won’t change theme unless you select your preferred option in its settings.
  • This is a design limitation of Android Auto, not an issue with CHIGEE hardware or firmware.

Set it up (Android)

  1. Open the Android Auto app on your phone.
  2. Go to Settings → Theme (wording may vary by Android/AA version).
  3. Choose Light, Dark, or Automatic (follows Android/AA behavior—not CHIGEE’s light sensor).

FAQ

  • Will choosing “Automatic” make AA follow ambient light?
No. “Automatic” follows Android/AA’s own logic (e.g., system theme/time), not CHIGEE’s sensor.

  • Why doesn’t AA change when the display dims?
Because AA theme is not driven by the display’s brightness; set your desired theme in Android Auto → Settings
