CarPlay/Android Auto Feels Laggy: Expected Behavior

CarPlay/Android Auto Feels Laggy: Expected Behavior

If you're experiencing delayed or sluggish screen response on your Chigee Display while using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, this behavior is expected and not a device malfunction.

Reason for the Delay:

When your Chigee Display is projecting content via Android Auto or CarPlay, the interface is controlled by your phone, not the Chigee system itself. This means:
  • All touch inputs are first sent from the display to your smartphone.
  • Your phone processes the input and sends back the updated screen content.
  • This back-and-forth communication can cause noticeable lag, especially with:
    • Older or lower-performance smartphones
    • High data usage or background app activity

How to Improve Responsiveness:

  • Ensure you're connected via 5GHz Wi-Fi, not 2.4GHz:
    • Go to the Car Link screen on your Chigee Display
    • Tap the Settings icon, and select 5G instead of 2.4G
  • Close unused apps on your phone to free up memory.
  • Avoid running intensive apps in the background during projection.
  • Try testing with a newer or higher-performance smartphone to see if the responsiveness improves.
Note: This delay is a common limitation of all wireless Android Auto and CarPlay systems—it is not caused by a fault in the Chigee Display hardware.
