Water Ingress / Black Screen: What to Check and What to Do Next

Water Ingress / Black Screen: What to Check and What to Do Next

If your CHIGEE Display has been exposed to water and now shows a black screen / won’t power on, follow the steps below before contacting support. This helps us quickly confirm the cause and determine the correct service path.

1) Stop Using It Immediately

  • Power off the motorcycle / disconnect power to the display as soon as possible.
  • Do not keep trying to boot the unit, as this may worsen internal damage.

2) Check Whether the Port Covers Were Opened

Water ingress is often linked to the SD card slot / USB service port cover being opened or not sealed correctly.
Please confirm:
  • Have you opened the SD card slot cover or USB port cover recently?
  • Did you remove/insert an SD card or connect anything to the USB port?
Inspect the sealing strip (important)
If the slot/cover was opened, please check the rubber sealing strip / gasket:
  • Make sure the rubber strip is flat, fully seated, and not twisted
  • Ensure there is no sand, hair, dust, or debris caught under the strip
  • Confirm the cover is fully closed and tightened correctly (if applicable)
If the sealing strip is not properly seated, water can enter the device.

3) What We Need From You (Required for After-Sales Review)

To assess the case efficiently, please provide:
  1. A clear photo or a short video showing:
    • The black screen / power-on behavior
    • The SD card/USB port area and cover condition (close-up)
  2. Order number
  3. Purchase source, for example:
    • CHIGEE official website
    • Amazon
    • Other platform / retailer
This information helps us provide more accurate support and determine warranty eligibility.

4) Warranty / Service Note (Water Ingress Cases)

Water ingress may be covered only if it is confirmed as a product quality issue.
However, if the device was opened or the port cover/gasket was not properly sealed, and water entered due to improper installation or user handling, it is considered human-caused damage and after-sales service may not be provided.
