Why Does My CHIGEE Screen Look Dark Through Polarized Sunglasses?

Why Does My CHIGEE Screen Look Dark Through Polarized Sunglasses?

This is normal. Your screen is working perfectly — it's just how polarized lenses interact with any LCD display.

What's happening

If your CHIGEE screen looks dark, black, or washed out when you're wearing polarized sunglasses — especially at certain angles — you're seeing a well-known optical effect, not a defect.
Polarized sunglasses work by blocking light waves traveling in one direction (that's how they cut glare). Your CHIGEE display also emits light in a specific direction. When those two directions don't line up, the lenses block part of the screen's light, and the display looks dimmer or disappears. Tilt your head, and it comes back.
You'll notice the same thing on car dashboards, ATMs, airplane seat-back screens, and many smartphones. It's a property of the screen and lens materials, so it can't be fixed with a software update or settings change.

How to fix it

A few simple options, easiest first:

  1. Tilt your head or adjust the angle. A small shift in how you're looking at the screen often clears it up instantly.
  2. Add a high-transparency tempered glass screen protector. This is the most effective fix — it noticeably reduces the dimming and improves visibility through polarized lenses.
  3. Switch to non-polarized sunglasses. If you check the screen often while riding, non-polarized lenses give you a consistent, reliable view.
