Camera Malfunction on CHIGEE Dashcam: Troubleshooting

Camera Malfunction on CHIGEE Dashcam: Troubleshooting

If a camera connected to the Chigee dashcam does not start or shows no image, please review the following information to understand the possible causes and troubleshooting steps.

Symptoms of Camera Malfunction

  • The camera does not power on.
  • The display does not show video from the affected camera.
  • Only one of the cameras (front or rear) is working while the other remains inactive.

Common Causes

  1. Incorrect power supply

    • Using a USB power cable instead of the main harness can cause insufficient voltage, leading to the camera—or even the main unit—not starting.

  2. Improper installation

  3. Hardware fault

    • Either the camera or the Chigee Display main unit may be defective.

Troubleshooting Method: Connector Swap Test

Since the front and rear cameras are identical in specification and can be interchanged, you can test to isolate the fault:

  1. Swap the cameras

    • Insert the working camera into the connector port of the non-working camera.
    • Example: If the front camera (F) is working but the rear camera (B) is not, connect the front camera (F) to the rear (B) port.
  2. Observe the results

    • If the originally working camera fails to work after the swap → The issue may lie in the main unit or the connector port → The Chigee Display may need replacement.
    • If the originally working camera still works in the new port → The non-working camera is likely defective → The camera itself needs replacement.

If upon inspection you find that the installation and camera are both fine, it is likely that there is an issue with components such as the fuse or battery of your bike. We recommend conducting a thorough inspection of your bike.
