CHIGEE TPMS vs. Pump/Gauge: Why Readings Differ (and What’s “Normal”)

It is normal to notice slight differences between the tire pressure values shown on the CHIGEE Display (TPMS) and those measured by external tools such as an electric air pump, handheld gauge, or service station equipment. This does not indicate a fault.

How CHIGEE TPMS Works

  • The CHIGEE Display captures tire pressure data while the motorcycle is in motion, just before you come to a stop.
  • Tire pressure naturally changes with temperature: as the tires heat up during riding, the pressure increases; when the bike cools down or sits still, the pressure decreases.

Why Differences Occur

  1. Timing of the Measurement

    • CHIGEE TPMS reflects “in-motion” values when the tires are hot.
    • External tools often measure when the bike is parked and the tires are cooling down, leading to slightly lower readings.
  2. Tool Calibration

    • Different devices (air pumps, gauges, service tools) may have minor calibration variances, which can cause a small difference compared to CHIGEE readings.

  3. Environmental Conditions

    • Weather, road surface, and riding style all affect tire temperature, which in turn impacts pressure readings.

Key Notes

  • Small differences (within ±2–3 psi / ±0.1–0.2 bar) are completely normal.
  • Always compare readings under similar conditions (e.g., right after riding vs. when stationary).
  • CHIGEE TPMS is designed to provide real-time, riding-condition monitoring, not to replace the exact static reading of a garage tool.
