My Experience with the Chigee AIO-5 Lite
I went on a 4 day motorbike ride recently. I got to test the Chigee out fully. Here are my thoughts.
Screen is great. Bright, easy to read. But I needed to add touch pads to my gloves so that the touchscreen would respond to them.
Problems with video copying from the unit. While you can download video from the AIO to your phone via the Chigee app, it's slow and when you have a full MicroSD card it's also slow and hard to find the desired videos. Solution is to remove the MicroSD card from the Chigee. But for that you need to be careful that you don't drop the difficult to get out card or the tiny screw that stops the waterproof cover from coming loose.
And as I'm using a Sandisk 256gb card my Apple Computer (Mac Mini) can't read it. I had to borrow a Windows PC in order to copy the video files from the card to my computer.
Carplay works well. But I use a Cardo Packtalk Edge helmet communicator which pairs with the iPhone. I can stream audio, but I was having problems with phone calls. Neither party could hear the other. I don't know if it's the Cardo/iPhone or if the AIO is doing something to stop Phone audio from working.
Tyre Pressure monitors work well. I got a low tyre pressure and the alerting is loud even over my helmet and with earplugs in. And the visual alarm on the screen is very noticable. However, tapping on it only stopped it briefly. Maybe that's a good thing to tell you to stop and check the tyre.
When the unit shuts down it tells you how long your current trip was and how far that you've ridden that day. It gives you only about 7 seconds to view the info if you want to note it. Best to have your camera ready to photograph the screen before it shuts down. I wish that we could tap on a "pause" button to stop it shutting down.
The Meter screen is informative. I just wish it had more trip info. For example, the bike has two resetable trip meters. I wish that this did the same. It would be nice to have a trip meter to show distance travelled, time moving, average speed, top speed.
The AIO-5 Lite has so much potential to be the ultimate trip computer, especially for bikes which have full OBD2 functionality and where the AIO can connect to that system. Unfortunately my Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT doesn't have that.
The mounting bracket is good and the vibration dampener worked well. But it still sticks out on an arm and there is some movement. It did come loose on me at one stage but I tightened it up as much as I could and so far it has held. The optional accessory bar mount is only for up to 15mm but my Suzuki has a 25mm accessory bar so I can't use it.
The remote unit works but it's finnicky to use. It is also difficult to use when riding as you have to constantly look down at the screen as you scroll between options. It's best used to answer the phone and to hang up. For all other functions either don't touch them while riding or sparingly use the touchscreen.
