Manually Update or Downgrade CHIGEE Display (via SD Card)

What you need
Important
  • Keep the device powered during the update. Do not power off.
  • Do not rename any firmware files.
  • Copy all files from inside the unzipped folder to the root of the SD card.

Step-by-Step

  1. Download & Unzip
  1. Format the SD Card on the Device (Preferred)
    • Insert the microSD card into the CHIGEE Display.
    • Go to Settings → Storage → Format SD card. When formatting completes, remove the card from the device.
  1. Copy Firmware Files (On Your Computer)
    • Insert the SD card into your computer.
    • Open the extracted firmware folder.
    • Copy all files inside that folder to the root directory of the SD card (not into another folder).
    • Safely eject the SD card.
  1. Insert SD Card (Device Off)
    • With the CHIGEE Display powered off, insert the SD card.
  1. Start the Update
    • Power on the device. It will automatically enter upgrade mode.
    • Wait about 2 minutes for the update to complete.
    • Do not power off during the process.
  1. Confirm the Version
    • After completion/reboot, go to Settings → About and confirm the Firmware Version.

If the Device Doesn’t Recognize the SD Card

Goal: Format the card to FAT32, which is compatible with the CHIGEE Display.

On Windows:

If Windows won’t format to FAT32, use a third-party tool (e.g., Rufus) to format the card as FAT32. Recopy the extracted files to the root of the SD card and try again.

On macOS:

  1. Open Disk Utility → select your SD card → Erase.
  2. Format: MS-DOS (FAT) → Erase.
  3. Recopy the extracted files to the root of the SD card and try again.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Update didn’t start?

    • Ensure you unzipped the package and copied all extracted files to the root (not the .zip itself).
    • Remove any extra folders created by your OS.
    • Power off → reinsert SD → power on.
  • Still stuck?

    • Email support with your device SN, current firmware version, SD card brand/capacity, and a short video of your steps.
