Track Playback: How It Works, Why Segments Go Missing (AIO-6 LTE)
What it is
Track Playback lets you review your rides in the CHIGEE GO app—route, distance, and timestamps—recorded by your AIO-6 LTE and synced to the cloud.
How Track Playback Works (three pillars)
- Power — The device must be on during the ride.
-
GPS — The AIO-6 LTE’s built-in GNSS needs a clear sky view to log positions.
-
4G Data — A nano-SIM with active data (and coverage) is required to upload the recorded track.
If any pillar is missing (power/GPS/4G), the cloud record may show gaps for that period.
Common Reasons for Missing Segments
- GPS not available: tunnels, dense urban canyons, heavy tree cover, metal fairings, or shielded mounting positions block satellite signal → no points to record.
-
4G unavailable: rural areas, carrier dead zones, or temporary outages prevent timely upload; data will upload when signal returns—but only for portions that were actually logged.
-
Power interruptions: ignition-only wiring, loose connectors, brown-outs at cranking, or low-voltage protection can stop logging mid-ride.
Best Practices (to maximize completeness)
Why Your Phone May Show a “Fuller” Track (brief comparison)
Phones combine multi-band GNSS, assisted GPS (A-GNSS), cell/Wi-Fi positioning, and sensor dead-reckoning; some apps also map-match missing stretches. Phones also run on their own battery, so they keep logging through short power events.
By design, AIO-6 LTE logs with its own GNSS and depends on bike power and its SIM to upload. When GPS, power, or 4G drops, the device can’t record or sync that segment.
Quick Checks & Troubleshooting
- Nothing recorded: Confirm AIO-6 LTE model, SIM inserted/active, 4G icon visible, and that the device was powered during the ride.
-
Partial track: Note where it breaks (tunnel/forest/rural). Ride into good 4G and leave the device on briefly to finish uploads.
-
Frequent mid-ride gaps: Inspect wiring for ignition-only feeds or loose connections; consider rewiring for steadier power and enabling a short power-off delay.
-
Still stuck: Test with a different location/SIM, and update device firmware and CHIGEE GO app.
Summary
Track Playback depends on live GNSS logging, stable power, and working 4G data. Loss of any one will produce missing segments. Optimize power and antenna view, use a suitable local SIM, and allow the device time to complete uploads after your ride for the most complete history.
