CarPlay and Android Auto on the CHIGEE Display switch between light and dark themes based on the settings on your phone. The CHIGEE Display doesn't send day or night signals to CarPlay or Android Auto, and its light sensor only changes the brightness of the CHIGEE Display screen.
How the CHIGEE Display adjusts brightness
The CHIGEE Display has a built-in ambient light sensor. It brightens the screen in daylight and dims it in dark places, such as tunnels or at dusk, to reduce glare. This brightness change doesn't switch CarPlay or Android Auto to a dark theme.
Change the CarPlay theme
The CarPlay theme on the CHIGEE Display follows your iPhone. To change it, open Settings in CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display, tap Appearance and choose one of these options:
Automatic: CarPlay follows the light or dark appearance of your iPhone.
Always Dark: CarPlay always uses the dark theme.
CarPlay doesn't have an Always Light option. To have CarPlay change with the time of day, choose Automatic in CarPlay. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > Display & Brightness and turn on Automatic, so your iPhone uses Light mode during the day and Dark mode at night.
Tip: If CarPlay stays dark during the day, check that Appearance in CarPlay is set to Automatic and that your iPhone is in Light mode.
Change the Android Auto theme
Android Auto on the CHIGEE Display uses the day and night setting on your Android phone. To change it:
On your phone, open the Android Auto settings. The path varies by phone brand, for example Settings > Connected devices > Android Auto.
Tap Day/night mode for maps. On some Android Auto versions, this setting is called Theme.
Choose Automatic, Day or Night.
With Automatic, Android Auto follows your phone's own logic, such as the phone's theme or the time of day, not the CHIGEE Display's light sensor.

Some navigation apps, such as Waze, also have their own day and night map setting.
