For Android Auto, pair your headset with your phone for audio output and with your CHIGEE Display for headset microphone input. Using the headset microphone and activating the assistant with a spoken phrase are separate functions.
Set up and test voice input
Pair the headset with your Android phone and confirm phone audio plays through it.
Connect the phone to the CHIGEE Display using Android Auto.
Put the headset into its supported additional-device pairing mode.
On the CHIGEE Display, open Settings > Peripherals > Headset and pair the headset.
While parked, tap the on-screen voice assistant button and speak into the headset microphone.
If a spoken wake phrase does not work
Wake-phrase support depends on your headset, phone settings and software. Check the headset manufacturer's instructions rather than assuming all models support the same activation method.
If tapping the screen works but saying a wake phrase does not, use the on-screen button. Do not treat this alone as a failure of headset microphone pairing.
If the assistant cannot hear you
Check that the headset supports the required simultaneous connections, update its firmware and the CHIGEE firmware, and temporarily disconnect extra Bluetooth devices such as the BMW TFT.
For audio routing, see Pair a Bluetooth headset with your CHIGEE Display. If the problem continues, contact us with the display model, firmware, phone and OS, headset model and pairing steps.
AdvExplorerOz shares an Android Auto headset setup in this video. It is a rider-tested configuration; results depend on the phone and headset. Follow the basic pairing steps above first.
