With CarPlay and Android Auto, sound travels from your phone to your headset, and the CHIGEE Display doesn't play app audio. When you hear nothing in your headset, the usual cause is your phone's audio output, a volume setting, or another Bluetooth device taking the audio.
Check how your headset is connected
The headset connection is different for CarPlay and Android Auto on the CHIGEE Display:
CarPlay: pair your headset with your iPhone only. Don't pair the headset with the CHIGEE Display.
Android Auto: pair your headset with your phone for music, navigation prompts and calls, and with the CHIGEE Display for the microphone used by voice commands.
For the full setup, see Pair a Bluetooth headset with your CHIGEE Display.
Try these fixes first
Try these fixes in order, and test the sound in your headset after each one:
Choose your headset as the audio output. On an iPhone, open Control Center, touch and hold the Now Playing controls, tap the AirPlay icon and choose your headset. On iOS 26 and later, if CarPlay keeps taking audio away from your headset, go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity and turn on Keep Audio with Headphones. On an Android phone, press a volume button and tap the output icon, or open Quick Settings and tap Media output, then choose your headset.
Turn up every volume. Check your phone's media volume, your headset volume and the navigation voice volume in your app, because many apps have their own volume slider. Turn off silent mode, Do Not Disturb and Focus modes.
Disconnect extra Bluetooth devices. Cars, speakers, a BMW TFT or a second intercom can take the audio. Turn them off for a test, then connect them again.
Restart and pair again. Restart your phone and the CHIGEE Display, and turn your headset off and on. If that doesn't help, forget the headset on your phone and pair it again.
If the problem continues
If your headset still has no sound with CarPlay or Android Auto, find the situation below that matches.
You hear nothing during phone calls
If you can't hear calls in your headset, the cause is usually the Bluetooth connection between your phone and headset or your phone's audio routing, especially when your phone is connected to several devices, such as a BMW TFT. To fix it:
When you answer a call, check that the audio output is your headset, not your phone or speaker.
Make sure your headset isn't connected to other devices, such as a car infotainment system.
If your phone is connected to a BMW TFT, go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and turn off the phone call option for the BMW TFT.
Test with a different headset or phone to find out which one causes the problem.
Navigation voice is too quiet
If navigation prompts, such as Google Maps directions, are very quiet in your headset but music and calls sound normal, the cause is usually a setting on your headset, phone or navigation app. Some Sena headset models are known to have this issue. To fix it:
On your phone, forget the headset in the Bluetooth settings, pair it again and test the navigation voice. On an iPhone, tap the info button next to your headset, then tap Forget This Device.
Check whether your phone or headset is connected to other devices, because they can change where the audio goes.
Check the voice settings in your navigation app. See Google Maps navigation sound issues or Change settings for spoken directions in Maps on iPhone.
Check your phone's Bluetooth settings
Some phone settings stop audio from reaching your headset while you use the CHIGEE Display:
iPhone: go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the info button next to your headset and set Device Type to Headphone. In Apple Maps or Google Maps, make sure voice guidance is on.
Android: go to the Bluetooth settings, tap your headset and make sure Media audio is on, and Phone calls too if you take calls. Allow Android Auto, Bluetooth and your music and navigation apps to run without battery restrictions.
Your headset is in intercom mode
Some headsets lower or turn off music while intercom is on. Switch to a headset mode that allows music, or turn off intercom while you use navigation or music. If your headset connects to more than one device, make the phone that runs CarPlay or Android Auto the headset's primary device.
Pair everything again from the start
If the sound still doesn't work, set up the headset connection again:
On your phone, forget the headset.
On the headset, clear its pairing memory as described in the headset manual.
Restart your phone and the CHIGEE Display.
For CarPlay, pair the headset with your iPhone only, then start CarPlay.
For Android Auto, pair the headset with your phone and check that music plays. Then pair the headset with the CHIGEE Display for the microphone, and start Android Auto.
Find out whether your phone or headset is the cause
Test your phone and headset together without the CHIGEE Display. If there's still no sound, the problem is between your phone and headset. You can also try a different headset or phone. Update your phone's operating system, your headset firmware and the CHIGEE Display firmware. On Android, use the stable version of Android Auto, not Android Auto Beta.
