Solution: BMW Native Data and Wonder Wheel Control Issues

If you experience issues with BMW native data access, missing data, or wonder wheel control after installing the AIO-5 Play for BMW or CGRC LIN, please follow these steps:

1. Verify BMW Nav Prep

Ensure you are using the authentic BMW Nav Prep 5/6.

2. Check Physical Connections

  1. Remove the AIO-5 Play For BMW
  2. Clean all connection points: Metal contacts on the BMW Prep ; BMW Nav Prep 3-pin connector (male) ; Motorcycle 3-pin connector (female)

3. Advanced Diagnostics

Red Standard Interface

If the display shows a red dashboard instead of the blue BMW dashboard, you need to Activate the SA 272 / Option 272.


Blue BMW Interface

If you see the blue BMW-specific interface but experience any of these issues:


1. No Data Display:

2. Partial Data Display:
--Note: This usually indicates missing sensors on your bike model, not a system malfunction

3. No “TFT~Nav” Logo / No Wonderwheel Control:

--Cause: SA 272 / Option 272 not activated from factory

Important Notes
Some BMW models cannot enable Wonderwheel control through SA 272 / Option 272 updates, Check the compatibility here.
Ensure the BMW Prep and AIO-5 Play are powered on during the update process to prevent failure.


Activate Preparation for navigation system (SA 272 / option 272)

Prerequisites:

  1. Ensure your BMW Navigator Cradle is NAV5 or later.
  2. Ensure CHIGEE device remains powered and keeping the screen on.

Steps to Resolve:

Please visit your local BMW service center and explain that you need to use the BMW Nav Prep and control it with the handlebar rotary knob. Request activation of SA 272 / Option 272 and an update of the BMW Nav Prep firmware. 
  1. Locate 3-Pin Interface: Use ISTA to diagnose the BMW and verify the presence of a 3-pin interface (X740*1B). 
  2. Connect Computer to OBD: Connect your computer to the BMW's OBD port.
