If your CarPlay wireless connection drops occasionally, it’s important to understand that the CHIGEE Display itself will not actively disconnect from your iPhone. When a disconnection occurs, it is usually because your iPhone’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi has actively ended the connection with the CHIGEE Display.
If you can connect successfully at least once, it means the CHIGEE Display is functioning normally. Any disconnection issues are almost always caused by your iPhone’s settings, CarPlay system behavior, or nearby environmental interference.
How CarPlay Connects to CHIGEE
1. Bluetooth Handshake – Your iPhone pairs with the CHIGEE Display to establish a basic connection.
2. Wi-Fi Link – Once paired, Wi-Fi handles high-speed audio, video, and control data.
3. Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi must remain active on your iPhone for CarPlay to stay connected.
Why Disconnections Happen (Usually on the iPhone Side)
If your CarPlay wireless connection frequently drops, it usually means your iPhone’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is actively disconnecting. In most cases, an iPhone that behaves this way will also disconnect from other wireless CarPlay systems.
You can confirm if this is a broader phone-side issue by searching online for your iPhone model + iOS Version + “wireless CarPlay disconnect” — you’ll often find other users reporting similar experiences.
If your CarPlay drops in the same location repeatedly, it's often caused by external signal interference—such as nearby transmitters, dense Wi-Fi networks, or regional hotspots. These environmental disturbances are rarely fixable via device settings.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Follow these steps in order to fix frequent disconnections:
Step 1: Verify Your Connection History
Has CarPlay worked with your CHIGEE display before?
If yes: Something recently changed in your phone(an update, new app, setting). Upgrading to a new iOS system or CarPlay version often causes disconnections. Please contact Apple Support for confirmation and solutions.
- If no: It may be a setup issue—double-check compatibility and walkthrough.
Step 2: Check for Interference from Other Bluetooth Devices
Make sure your phone is not connected to other Bluetooth devices like smartwatches, BMW TFT displays, or smart home systems. These can interfere with the CHIGEE connection.
Open Bluetooth Settings on your iPhone.
Forget or unpair any connected devices such as smartwatches or BMW TFT
Restart your phone
Reconnect only to CHIGEE and Carplay stability
Step 3: Disable Smart Device Controller Apps
Apps such as Samsung SmartThings or similar smart home controllers may disrupt CarPlay’s wireless connection.
-
Disable or uninstall these apps if possible.
-
Restart your iPhone.
-
In CarPlay settings, make sure these apps are not enabled for use in CarPlay.
Step 4: Optimize Wireless CarPlay
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > CHIGEE-XXXX and:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi:
Go to Settings > Cellular:
Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot:
Step 5: Check iPhone Settings
Allow CarPlay While Locked
Disable Low Power Mode
Disable Your VPN
Turn Off Do Not Disturb While Driving
Step 6: Reset Network Settings & Restart Your iPhone
Resetting your iPhone’s network settings clears outdated configurations or incorrect connection data that may interfere with CarPlay.
From our experience, frequent CarPlay disconnections are often caused by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth channels being occupied by other connections. Resetting helps remove these conflicts and restores default network settings.
How to reset: navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Your iPhone can store CarPlay profiles for multiple vehicles, and old records can sometimes cause connection conflicts.
Go to Settings > General > CarPlay and remove every listed vehicle by tapping each one and selecting Forget This Car.
After clearing all previous records, reconnect your CHIGEE Display wirelessly and test if CarPlay remains stable.
Step 7: Complete Reset Process (If issues persist)
