Day / Night Modes on Chigee Display

The Chigee Display features a built-in ambient light sensor. It automatically adjusts screen brightness based on environmental lighting:
  • In bright daylight, the screen becomes brighter.
  • In dark environments (like tunnels or dusk), it dims to reduce glare.
This auto-adjustment ensures optimal visibility and reduces eye strain during different lighting conditions.

CarPlay: Automatic Day/Night Switching

When connected via CarPlay, the display’s brightness behavior carries over:

  • With Appearance set to “Automatic” in CarPlay settings, the system uses the vehicle’s ambient light detection—such as headlights or the display’s light sensor—to switch themes.
  • Switch to “Dark Mode”, and CarPlay will always remain in dark theme, regardless of lighting.
  • There is no manual “Always Light” option—CarPlay only offers “Automatic” and “Always Dark”.

Android Auto: Manual Theme Switching Only

Unlike CarPlay, Android Auto does not support automatic theme switching based on ambient light:
  • You must manually choose between light, dark, or automatic themes in the Android Auto settings.
  • Even if the Chigee Display automatically dims, Android Auto will not change theme unless you manually toggle it in settings.
  • This is a limitation of Android Auto’s design—not due to Chigee or your display firmware.
