Day & Night Modes with CarPlay on Chigee Display

How the CHIGEE Display adjusts brightness

The CHIGEE Display has a built-in ambient light sensor. It automatically brightens in daylight and dims in darker environments (e.g., tunnels or dusk) to reduce glare and eye strain.

How CarPlay switches between Day/Night

When CarPlay is connected, its own theme (light/dark) is controlled by CarPlay’s Appearance setting on your iPhone—not by the CHIGEE Display’s auto-brightness.
  • Automatic: CarPlay switches themes based on vehicle/lighting cues (e.g., headlights) or the display’s light conditions as interpreted by CarPlay.
  • Always Dark: CarPlay stays in dark theme at all times.
  • No “Always Light” option: CarPlay only offers Automatic and Always Dark.
Tip: If CarPlay stays dark in daytime, make sure Appearance = Automatic on your iPhone.

FAQ

  • Does CHIGEE’s auto-dim force CarPlay to change theme?
No. CarPlay theme follows its Appearance setting. CHIGEE’s sensor only changes display brightness.

  • Why did CarPlay turn dark when I turned on headlights?
In Automatic mode, CarPlay may use headlight status as a cue to switch to dark theme.
