Applies to: External tire-pressure sensors — CHIGEE Display TPMS, G3 TPMS
Symptoms: Tire loses air / hissing noise / pressure drops soon after installing the sensor.
Clean & inspect the valve stem threads and seat. Make sure it’s a standard Schrader motorcycle valve (not Presta/adapters).
Hand-tighten the sensor body only.
Turn by hand until the gasket makes firm contact; do not use a wrench on the sensor body.
Anti-theft nut (if included):
Slide it up to touch the sensor, then snug it with the tiny set screw lightly (tool only for the anti-theft nut).
Do not use the set screw to “force-seal” the sensor.
Leak test: Inflate to spec, then brush soapy water on the valve base and sensor. Watch for bubbles.
Over-tightening can cut or deform the seal and cause a leak. The sensor itself should always be hand-tight only.
Re-seat & re-test
Remove the sensor, wipe the seat and threads, reinstall hand-tight, then re-do the soapy-water test.
Check the valve hardware
Ensure the valve core is snug (lightly tighten with a valve-core tool).
If you use aftermarket/modified stems, confirm compatibility with external TPMS; try another wheel/stem if possible.
Inspect the sensor’s seal
Open/inspect the internal red rubber ring (O-ring) in the sensor. If cracked, flattened, or missing, it will leak.
Replace the seal and test again.
Leak persists after replacing the red rubber ring and re-testing.
You suspect stem incompatibility or thread damage.
Provide: photos of the stem and sensor, soapy-water test video, and the bike model/stem type.
