Check G3 external sensor clearance before installation

Check G3 sensor clearance around brake calipers and review motorcycle models with known fitting restrictions.

G3 external tire pressure sensors must clear the brake caliper and nearby parts throughout wheel rotation. On some motorcycles, the sensor on the valve can strike the caliper.

Motorcycles with known restrictions

The following motorcycles are not compatible with G3 external tire pressure sensors because of brake-caliper clearance:

  • BMW R1250RS

  • BMW R1200RT, 2018

  • Harley 975

  • Jiuhe E300p/E100

  • Guangyang S250

For BMW C400GT and C400X, the G3 compatibility notice excludes both internal and external sensor installations.

Check the actual mounting space

  1. Check the valve position and available space around the brake caliper before installing the G3 external sensor.

  2. Check clearance throughout a full wheel rotation using a safe workshop method. Ask a qualified installer if you cannot safely inspect it.

  3. If the sensor could contact the caliper or another component, do not ride with it installed. Do not bend the valve to create clearance.

The reference images below illustrate the fitment check. Your motorcycle must have sufficient clearance with the sensor fitted.
