You can use a compatible CHIGEE Display to start and stop recording, take photos, and check a supported action camera's status. MegaView is the live preview available for supported Insta360 and GoPro cameras. Supported DJI cameras offer control without live preview.
Before you start
Before pairing an action camera with your CHIGEE Display, check the camera model and firmware below. Complete pairing and adjust settings while stopped; use capture controls only when safe and legal.
Supported cameras
The table shows which action cameras support control and MegaView live preview on compatible CHIGEE Displays. Insta360 X6 support also depends on the display model and firmware listed in the next table.
Action camera | Camera control | Live preview |
Insta360 X6 | Supported with the X6 firmware requirements below | Supported with the X6 firmware requirements below |
Insta360 X5, X4, X4 Air, Ace Pro and Ace Pro 2 | Supported | Supported |
GoPro HERO 10, HERO 11, HERO 12 and HERO 13 | Supported | Supported |
DJI Osmo Action 6, Osmo Action 4, Osmo Action 5 Pro and Osmo 360 | Supported | Not supported |
Firmware requirements
Update your CHIGEE Display to the latest official firmware for its model, and update the camera to its latest official firmware. The CHIGEE releases below include action-camera control and show the separate requirements for Insta360 X6.
CHIGEE Display | Official firmware | Insta360 X6 support |
AIO-6 LTE and AIO-6 Max | v2.4.3, released October 23, 2026 | Requires v2.4.3 or later |
AIO-5 Lite and AIO-5 EVO | v3.8.3, released November 5, 2026 | Requires v3.8.3 or later |
AIO-5 Play and AIO-5 Play for BMW | v1.8.8, released October 10, 2026 | Not supported |
For version changes, see the release notes for AIO-6 LTE and AIO-6 Max, AIO-5 Lite and AIO-5 EVO, or AIO-5 Play and AIO-5 Play for BMW.
Earlier action-camera control releases were AIO-6 v1.6.2 beta, AIO-5 Play v1.7.1 and AIO-5 Lite v3.4.7. These early releases do not establish compatibility with every camera listed above.
Use Update CHIGEE Display firmware over Wi-Fi for installation steps. Enable Check for beta firmware only if a required feature is available in beta firmware; beta firmware can contain bugs.
Pair and use a camera
Your CHIGEE Display supports one paired action camera at a time. Turn the camera on manually before connecting.
Enable the action camera's wireless or remote connection mode.
Open the action-camera control interface on your CHIGEE Display.
Start pairing with the action camera close to the CHIGEE Display.
Follow the pairing prompts and stay on the action-camera control interface.
Check the connection status on your CHIGEE Display. Once connected, the available camera controls should appear. If the camera doesn't connect, follow the pairing checks below.
Use live preview
For a supported Insta360 or GoPro camera, tap Preview on your CHIGEE Display to check framing before recording. Exit Wi-Fi preview to return to Bluetooth control.
DJI cameras do not support MegaView on the CHIGEE Display. Use the camera's own screen or app to check framing.
Use the camera controls
The CHIGEE Display's action-camera panel provides the controls available for your camera and firmware:
Capture: Start or stop recording, take a photo, or switch shooting mode.
Shooting options: Adjust the available recording, photo and view-angle settings, or mark a moment with Highlight.
Status: Check the camera battery, recording duration and remaining recording time on the camera's memory card.
Sleep and wake: Put a connected camera to sleep or wake it when needed.
Check the on-screen prompts to confirm an action. See the Action Camera MegaView and Control panel overview for the labeled controls.
If it doesn't work
If action-camera control doesn't work on your CHIGEE Display, start with the symptom below.
The camera won't pair
If an action camera won't pair with your CHIGEE Display, confirm that the camera and display combination is supported, then try these steps:
Update the CHIGEE Display firmware using the Wi-Fi firmware update guide.
Update the action camera to its latest official firmware.
Restart the CHIGEE Display and the action camera.
Use the action camera's network or connection reset. This clears saved wireless pairings.
Pair again with the camera close to the CHIGEE Display. Stay on the action-camera control interface and check for a connected status.
The camera disconnects when I leave the control screen
Leaving the CHIGEE Display's action-camera control screen for Home, CarPlay or playback may end the control session, depending on the model and firmware. Return to the action-camera control screen and reconnect if needed.
If pairing or connection problems continue, contact us with your CHIGEE Display model, serial number and firmware version, plus the camera model and firmware version. Include a photo or short video showing the problem and the screen you were using.
FAQs
Can I turn the camera on or off from CHIGEE?
The CHIGEE Display cannot turn an action camera's power on or off. Turn the camera on manually before pairing and off manually when finished. Sleep and wake controls are available after connection; they do not replace manual power control.
Can I connect two action cameras at once?
The CHIGEE Display supports one paired action camera at a time. Simultaneous connections and instant switching between two cameras are not supported.
Why doesn't DJI live preview work?
DJI does not provide the live-preview interface CHIGEE needs to receive video. Supported DJI cameras therefore offer camera control only; use the camera's own screen or app for preview.
Can CHIGEE send GPS data to my action camera?
The CHIGEE Display can send live Global Positioning System (GPS) data to a supported action camera to link footage with location. AIO-6 firmware v1.6.6 added GPS data linkage. Availability depends on the camera and firmware.
Can I change every camera setting from CHIGEE?
The CHIGEE Display provides key capture controls and preview where supported. For advanced settings that aren't available on the CHIGEE Display, use the camera or its own app.
