Camera image problems on a CHIGEE Display

Check colored noise, black bars and intermittent camera images, and send useful evidence without repeating unsafe tests.

Use this guide if a connected CHIGEE camera shows colored noise, a black bar, a shifted picture or an image that cuts in and out. It applies to camera-equipped displays. It does not diagnose third-party action cameras controlled through MegaView.

Check for a reason to stop

Park safely before checking the display. If you notice unusual cable or connector heat, a burning smell, melting, smoke, moisture inside a connector or visible wire damage, stop using the affected system and contact us. Do not repeat a fault to make a video.

Compare the preview with a saved clip

  1. Note whether the front camera, rear camera or both are affected, and whether the setup previously worked.

  2. If the system is safe to use, save an existing clip from the same period and view it on another device. Keep the original file.

  3. Record whether the fault appears in the live preview, saved footage, or both. A screenshot alone cannot show an intermittent fault, but it is still useful if that is all you have.

If only the preview is affected, tell us that the saved file looks normal. If both are affected, provide the original file and a photo of the preview when available. This comparison helps narrow the checks; it does not prove which part has failed.

Check the connection path only when safe

Power the system off before changing connections. Follow CHIGEE dashcam camera not working only if the front and rear cameras are interchangeable and belong to the same CHIGEE kit. Swap only camera connections; keep power wiring connected as specified. Do not swap cameras from different model families. For an AIO-6 quick-release setup, follow Fix “Not Connected” after wiring the AIO-6 camera. Do not move, tap or bend wiring repeatedly to provoke the fault.

Send the results once

Include the display model and firmware, the affected camera, cable or module photos, when the issue happens, the preview-versus-file result, and any checks already completed. If connectors are under the tank or the equipment has already been removed, explain that. You can share existing installer notes or images instead of reinstalling equipment just to make a video. Written inspection notes are optional supporting information and do not guarantee a warranty or refund decision. We will assess the available information and confirm the next step.

Use the same conversation for follow-up. Do not reset the device or format storage solely to hide an image fault. If we request a log, follow the log upload guide only when the issue can be reproduced safely.
