Wireless CarPlay usually drops when your iPhone ends its Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection to the CHIGEE Display. Common causes are an iOS update, another Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth device taking over, and radio interference where you ride. If CarPlay has connected to the CHIGEE Display at least once, the pairing works, so start with the settings below.
If CarPlay never connects at all, see iPhone won't connect to CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display.
Try these fixes first
Try these fixes in order, and test wireless CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display after each one:
Restart your iPhone and the CHIGEE Display, then connect CarPlay again.
Stop other Wi-Fi networks from taking over. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Auto-Join for home or work networks you ride past. On the same page, set Ask to Join Networks to Off and Auto-Join Hotspot to Never.
Turn off VPN on your iPhone, because a VPN can interrupt the CarPlay connection.
Switch the 5 GHz Wi-Fi channel on the CHIGEE Display. Interference and channel rules vary by country, phone and location, so try the channels one by one and keep the most stable one. See Manual Wi-Fi channel switching for more stable phone mirroring. Channel switching needs AIO-6 LTE or AIO-6 Max firmware v1.8.8, AIO-5 Play firmware v1.7.7, or AIO-5 Lite or AIO-5 EVO firmware v3.5.7 or later, and isn't available on Japan models.
If the problem continues
If wireless CarPlay still drops on the CHIGEE Display, find the situation below that matches what you see.
CarPlay started dropping after an iOS update
If CarPlay worked on the CHIGEE Display before and started dropping after an iOS update, a new app or a settings change, that change on your iPhone is the most likely cause. Check Settings > General > Software Update for a newer iOS version. To see whether other riders have the same problem, search online for your iPhone model, iOS version and "wireless CarPlay disconnect". If the drops started right after an iOS update, you can also report them to Apple Support.
Check your iPhone's CarPlay and power settings
Some iPhone settings can end wireless CarPlay with the CHIGEE Display when the iPhone locks or saves power. On your iPhone, check the following:
Allow CarPlay While Locked: go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your CHIGEE Display and turn on Allow CarPlay While Locked.
Low Power Mode: go to Settings > Battery and turn off Low Power Mode, because it can limit background connections.
Driving Focus: go to Settings > Focus > Driving and make sure it's off, because it can interrupt CarPlay functions.
CHIGEE-XXXX network options: go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the info button next to CHIGEE-XXXX. If Private Wi-Fi Address or Limit IP Address Tracking appears there, turn it off.
Wi-Fi Assist or Connectivity Assist is on
Wi-Fi Assist and Connectivity Assist let your iPhone switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data, which can interrupt wireless CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display. Turn the setting off for your iOS version:
iOS 27: go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Connectivity Assist.
iOS 26 and earlier: go to Settings > Cellular and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
Your iPhone is connected to other Bluetooth devices
Smartwatches, a BMW TFT, smart home systems and other Bluetooth devices connected to your iPhone can interfere with wireless CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display. To find out whether one of them is the cause, disconnect them for a test ride with only the CHIGEE Display connected, then connect them again after the test.
If you ride a BMW with a TFT and use ConnectedRide, see Use CarPlay with a BMW TFT and ConnectedRide.
Smart home apps interrupt CarPlay
Smart home controller apps, such as Samsung SmartThings, can disrupt wireless CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display. Turn off or delete these apps if you can, make sure they aren't set to show in CarPlay, and restart your iPhone.
Old CarPlay or network records cause conflicts
Your iPhone keeps CarPlay records for every car and display it has connected to, and old records can conflict with the CHIGEE Display. Clear them in this order, and test CarPlay after each step:
Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap each listed car or display and tap Forget This Car. Then connect the CHIGEE Display again.
Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This clears old Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection data that can block CarPlay, and also removes saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords.
If CarPlay still drops, reset the CHIGEE Display in Settings > Reset. On your iPhone, forget every CHIGEE entry in Settings > Bluetooth, such as CHIGEE-XXXX and CHIGEE-XXXX LE, and remove every entry in Settings > General > CarPlay. Then pair your iPhone with the CHIGEE Display again, choose the option that turns on Wi-Fi and connects, and don't choose Use Bluetooth Only. Restart your iPhone and connect CarPlay again.
CarPlay drops in the same place every time
If wireless CarPlay drops at the same spot on your route, outside radio interference is the likely cause, for example nearby transmitters, crowded Wi-Fi networks or public hotspots. iPhone and CHIGEE Display settings rarely fix this kind of interference. Switching the CHIGEE Display's 5 GHz Wi-Fi channel can help; see Manual Wi-Fi channel switching for more stable phone mirroring.
Find out whether the problem is your iPhone
Test wireless CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display with another iPhone, ideally one on a similar iOS version. If the other iPhone stays connected, the cause is most likely your iPhone's settings or iOS version. In most cases, an iPhone that keeps dropping wireless CarPlay on the CHIGEE Display also drops it with other wireless CarPlay systems.
