Note: This article applies to CHIGEE Displays with a dashcam, such as the AIO-6 with a camera, the AIO-5 Lite and the XR-2.
You can add riding data such as speed, GPS location and time to dashcam videos in two ways: the CHIGEE Display can burn data into recordings as it records, and the CHIGEE GO App can add data when you export a video.
Data the CHIGEE Display records on its own
These fields come from the CHIGEE Display itself, without a connection to your motorcycle:
Time and date
GPS latitude and longitude
Speed, measured by GPS
Lean angle (AIO-6 only)
Only the AIO-6 has a built-in tilt sensor, so lean angle isn't available on the AIO-5 Lite or XR-2.
Data from your motorcycle
Other fields, such as RPM, brake status and turn signals, come from your motorcycle. Which fields are available depends on your motorcycle's brand, model year and ECU, and on how the CHIGEE Display connects to it:
BMW Nav Prep cradle: the AIO-6 with the BMW Quick-Release Module, on BMW motorcycles with Nav Prep 5 or 6
CGRC LIN: through the BMW 3-pin navigation port, on supported models
OBD Module: on many non-BMW motorcycles; check the protocol and connector on the product page
If your motorcycle doesn't send a field, such as RPM, through the connection you use, that field isn't available for overlays.
Choose which data the CHIGEE Display records
You can choose the fields the CHIGEE Display burns into recordings on the CHIGEE Display or in the CHIGEE GO App:
On the CHIGEE Display: open the dashcam view, tap the screen, then tap Settings > Data Overlay.
In the CHIGEE GO App: tap Video > Camera Settings > Data Overlay.
Turn each field on or off: time and date, speed, and latitude and longitude.
On: the field is burned into all new recordings and can't be removed from them later.
Off: the field isn't recorded, so the CHIGEE GO App can't add it when you export.
Changes apply to new recordings only. For example, to hide your speed, turn off Speed. Neither the files on the SD card nor videos exported from the CHIGEE GO App will show speed, while time and location can stay on.
Show distance in miles
To show distance in miles instead of kilometers in recordings and exported videos, go to Settings > More on the CHIGEE Display and set the units to Miles.
Export a video with data in the CHIGEE GO App
The CHIGEE GO App can add data to a copy of a video when you export it, and the original video stays unchanged. The CHIGEE GO App can only add fields that are turned on in Data Overlay, plus these extra fields when they were recorded:
Compass: heading, which needs a valid GPS heading during the recording
Altitude: elevation, which needs a valid GPS fix during the recording
TPMS: tire pressure, which needs CHIGEE tire pressure sensors paired to the CHIGEE Display
Connect the CHIGEE GO App to the CHIGEE Display and download the video from Device Album. See Download dashcam videos with the CHIGEE GO App.
Open the video in Local Album and choose the data you want to add.
Tap the top-right icon to export. The CHIGEE GO App creates a new video with the data added.
Important: The CHIGEE GO App needs its riding log data to add overlays. Uninstalling the CHIGEE GO App permanently deletes this data, and you can't re-export videos with riding data afterward, even if you still have the original video.
What isn't supported
Maps: the CHIGEE GO App can't add a map to exported videos or photos.
Lean angle on the AIO-5 Lite and XR-2: these models don't have a tilt sensor.
