Download dashcam videos with the CHIGEE GO App

Dashcam footage downloads over the CHIGEE Display's own Wi-Fi, with no SIM card or mobile data. Steps for AIO-6, AIO-5 Lite and XR-2.

Note: This article applies to the AIO-6, AIO-5 Lite and XR-2.

The CHIGEE GO App downloads dashcam footage straight from the CHIGEE Display over the CHIGEE Display's own Wi-Fi network, CHIGEE-XXXX. The download doesn't use the internet, so your phone doesn't need a SIM card or mobile data.

How video downloads work

Dashcam footage is stored on the CHIGEE Display's SD card. To download it, the CHIGEE Display creates its own Wi-Fi network, your phone joins that network, and the CHIGEE GO App copies the files directly from the CHIGEE Display.

  • Your phone needs to be within 8–10 meters of the CHIGEE Display.

  • Downloads work without a SIM card in your phone, and even in airplane mode with Wi-Fi turned on.

  • You can't view or download dashcam footage remotely over the internet. On the AIO-6 LTE, 4G Live shows a real-time view only.

  • The SIM card inside the AIO-6 LTE is for 4G features such as 4G Live. Video downloads don't use it.

Before you start

  • Sign in first: sign in to the CHIGEE GO App while your phone has internet. Signing in and adding a CHIGEE Display for the first time need an internet connection.

  • Turn off VPN: a VPN can block the connection between your phone and the CHIGEE Display.

Turn on video download on the CHIGEE Display

AIO-6

  1. On the CHIGEE Display, go to Settings > Video Download.

  2. Stay on the Video Download screen while you connect and download. If you leave this screen, the connection or download can fail.

AIO-5 Lite and XR-2

  1. On the CHIGEE Display, go to Settings > Download and turn on Download.

  2. On your phone, join the Wi-Fi network shown on the Download screen, using the password shown there.

  3. In the CHIGEE GO App, tap Connect, then select OK on the CHIGEE Display.

Connect the CHIGEE GO App

  1. Open the CHIGEE GO App, tap Connect and select your CHIGEE Display.

  2. Allow the requests that appear on your phone: the Bluetooth pairing request, CHIGEE GO joining the CHIGEE-XXXX Wi-Fi network, and on iPhone, CHIGEE-XXXX-LE receiving notifications.

  3. On the CHIGEE Display, tap Pair. Your phone is now connected to the CHIGEE Display.

If your phone says the CHIGEE-XXXX network has no internet access, choose to stay connected. Otherwise your phone switches to another network and the download stops. For the same reason, turn off features such as WLAN+, smart network switching or auto-switch to mobile data, which Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and other phones use to leave networks without internet.

This video shows how to connect the CHIGEE GO App and download dashcam footage.

Download footage

Once the CHIGEE GO App is connected, open Device Album to see the original footage on the CHIGEE Display. Device Album has three tabs:

  • Video: regular dashcam recordings

  • Photo: still images

  • Lock: recordings locked on the CHIGEE Display, for example during an incident

To download, tap the top-right corner of Device Album, select the videos and download them. Downloaded videos move to Local Album in the CHIGEE GO App and are also saved to your phone's gallery. Deleting a video from Local Album also deletes it from your phone's gallery.

To add riding data such as speed or GPS location to a downloaded video, see Add data overlays to dashcam videos.

Use the internet while downloading

While your phone is connected to the CHIGEE Display's Wi-Fi, your phone usually can't use Wi-Fi for internet, because the CHIGEE-XXXX network has no internet access.

  • With mobile data: most phones send internet traffic over mobile data while the download continues over the CHIGEE Display's Wi-Fi.

  • Without a SIM card: your phone has no internet during the download. Internet comes back when you disconnect from the CHIGEE-XXXX network.

Some Android phones can connect to two Wi-Fi networks at once, but this isn't reliable for downloads.
