BMW Wonder Wheel control not working

Check the RC setting, CGRC indicator and BMW Nav Prep connections when Wonder Wheel control fails or stops working.

If the BMW Wonder Wheel never controls your CHIGEE Display, or it worked before and has now stopped, check the control mode, module indicator and BMW Nav Prep connections first. The correct checks depend on whether you use native BMW control through a Nav Prep cradle or a CGRC CAN/LIN module.

Check the control mode

If you use native BMW control through a Nav Prep cradle

  1. Check whether the BMW TFT shows the “TFT~Nav” logo or Navigation interface.

  2. On the CHIGEE Display, open Settings > Peripheral > RC and select Nav for native BMW control.

  3. If the TFT does not show the expected navigation state, check the BMW cradle seating and the motorcycle's Preparation for Navigation Device (SA 272) setting with a BMW dealer.

If you use a CGRC CAN or CGRC LIN module

  1. Check that the module is securely connected to the correct supported BMW connector.

  2. Check the module indicator. The current troubleshooting guidance describes a steady blue light as normal paired operation. A flashing red light or no light may indicate a power, module or connection issue.

  3. On the CHIGEE Display, open Settings > Peripheral > RC and select CGRC as the RC type.

Check the BMW Nav Prep cradle and connectors

  1. Power off the motorcycle and remove the CHIGEE Display from the cradle.

  2. Check that the display is seated firmly and that the genuine BMW Nav Prep 5 or Nav Prep 6 cradle is fully locked.

  3. Inspect the display contacts, BMW Nav Prep contacts and the motorcycle-side and cradle-side 3-pin connectors for looseness or visible debris.

  4. Reconnect the display and check whether control returns.

If the control works only when you press the display into the cradle or lock it, the contacts or cradle may need inspection. Do not sand or abrade the contacts unless an approved service procedure specifically instructs you to do so.

If control worked before but has stopped

  1. Check whether the CGRC module indicator and Bluetooth pairing are normal, if you use a CGRC module.

  2. Check the selected RC type again: use Nav for native BMW control or CGRC for a CGRC module.

  3. Check for loose connectors or intermittent power/data connections.

  4. If the issue continues, ask a BMW dealer to check the motorcycle's battery, wiring and relevant factory navigation preparation settings.

Control availability depends on the BMW model, model year, factory options and the connection method. Some K-series and RT-series motorcycles have model-specific limitations or may require CGRC CAN. Confirm compatibility for your exact motorcycle before purchasing a module.
