Action Camera MegaView & Control on CHIGEE Display (Insta360 / GoPro / DJI)

Action Camera MegaView & Control on CHIGEE Display (Insta360 / GoPro / DJI)

CHIGEE Display can connect to select action cameras to provide MegaView (live preview) and quick controls on your riding screen—so you can confirm framing, start/stop recording, and capture moments without touching the camera.
Important: CHIGEE Display cannot power an action camera ON/OFF. You must manually turn the camera on before pairing/connecting, and manually turn it off when finished. After a camera is connected, you can use the Display to Sleep/Wake the camera.

What’s supported

Features by brand

  • Insta360 / GoPro: Live preview (MegaView) + camera control
  • DJI: Camera control only (live preview not supported)
    • DJI currently doesn’t provide an open live-preview protocol for third-party displays, so CHIGEE can’t stream real-time video preview from DJI cameras.

Compatible camera models (current list)

  • Insta360: X5, X4, X4 Air, Ace Pro, Ace Pro 2
  • GoPro: HERO 10, 11, 12, 13
  • DJI: Osmo Action 6, Action 4, Action 5 Pro, Osmo 360

Important limitations (read first)

  1. CHIGEE Display cannot power your action camera ON/OFF.
You must manually turn the camera on before pairing/connecting, and manually turn it off when you’re done. After it’s connected, you can use Sleep/Wake from the CHIGEE control panel.

  2. Only one camera can be paired at a time.
Dual-camera connections and instant switching are not supported.

  3. Stay on the Action Camera control screen while connecting/using it.
The control connection can disconnect if you leave the pairing/control page (e.g., go Home, open CarPlay, enter playback, etc.).

  4. CHIGEE focuses on ride-essential actions, not full camera settings.
Advanced settings may still need to be adjusted on the camera or in the camera’s own app.

Firmware requirements (CHIGEE Display)

Action camera control requires beta firmware at or above:
  • AIO-6: Beta 1.6.2
  • AIO-5 Play: Beta 1.7.1
  • AIO-5 Lite: Beta 3.4.7
How to install beta firmware:
On your CHIGEE Display: Settings → System Update → enable “Check for beta firmware” → Check update → install → reboot.
  1. Update the CHIGEE Display to the required beta firmware.
  2. Turn on the camera and enable wireless/remote mode.
  3. Open the Action Camera Control / MegaView interface on the CHIGEE Display and start pairing. (Keep the camera near the display.)
  4. Stay on that page while it connects; leaving the page may disconnect the session.

Using MegaView & the Control Panel

Once connected, CHIGEE can show status + core controls (model-dependent), including:

  • Start/Stop recording
  • Photo capture (core action)
  • Sleep/Wake (standby/wake control after connection)
  • Battery status / remaining SD recording time / recording time
  • Switch shooting mode / recording-photo settings
  • Highlight (mark a moment) (supported on the control panel)
  • Exit Wi-Fi preview / switch to Bluetooth control (when applicable)

GPS data sync (for your footage workflow)

Sync real-time GPS data with your ride footage to keep video and route aligned—making it easier to pinpoint highlights and tell a cleaner ride story.

  3. Restart both devices.
  4. On the camera, run Reset Network/Connections.
  5. Retry pairing with the camera close to the display, and stay on the control page while connecting.
