Connect power and ACC to your CHIGEE Display

Connect the three-wire harness, verify an ignition-switched ACC source and check which battery-side cable can be reused.

For a CHIGEE Display with a three-wire power harness, red supplies constant battery power, black connects to battery negative, and yellow detects the ignition state. Use your model’s supplied harness and fuse.

Before you start

Use the power harness and fuse specified for your exact CHIGEE Display. Follow the motorcycle’s service instructions when working on its wiring. If you cannot identify a circuit safely, use a qualified installer.

AIO-5 Play for BMW uses its compatible BMW navigation cradle. AIO-6 quick-release installations must follow the instructions for the specific module. These arrangements are different from a direct three-wire installation.

An ETC accessory circuit, a vehicle USB outlet and the display’s USB port are not interchangeable power inputs. Check the intended input and the model’s manual; a shared voltage rating alone does not confirm a suitable installation.

For bench testing, see USB power testing. For an accessory controller, see third-party power managers.

Find and test an ACC source

Connect the yellow CHIGEE ACC wire to a source that becomes live with ignition on and turns off with ignition off. Red and black provide the main battery power; yellow detects ignition.

You need a multimeter set to DC voltage and your motorcycle’s wiring information. If you cannot identify the circuit safely, have a qualified installer test it.

  1. Locate a suitable accessory circuit or fuse using the motorcycle’s wiring information.

  2. Place the black meter lead on battery negative and use the red lead to measure the candidate source.

  3. With ignition on, confirm the source supplies the expected vehicle battery voltage.

  4. Turn ignition off and check that the source switches off. Account for any vehicle-controlled delay; a permanently live or intermittently controlled circuit is unsuitable.

  5. Once identified, switch power off before making the connection and follow the motorcycle’s instructions for the connection method. Test startup and shutdown afterward.

See the full power connections for the red and black wires.

If there is no accessible fuse box

A tail-light harness may provide a suitable signal, but only after the same ignition-on and ignition-off tests. Do not assume every tail-light wire is a constant ignition-switched supply. Use the motorcycle’s service instructions to access the harness instead of following a generic panel-removal procedure.

BMW three-pin navigation connector

CHIGEE does not recommend tapping the yellow ACC wire into the BMW three-pin navigation interface. Use a verified ACC source instead. This guidance concerns the three-wire harness and does not replace the installation instructions for a dedicated BMW cradle or CGRC accessory.

Connect the three-wire harness

After verifying the ACC source, connect the CHIGEE Display wires as shown below with power off.

Wire

Connection

Purpose

Red

Battery positive through the supplied fused cable

Main power remains available after ignition off.

Black

Battery negative

Return connection for the power supply.

Yellow

A verified ignition-switched ACC source

Ignition detection; this is not the main power supply.

Follow your model’s manual when working at the battery. The AIO-6 LTE original fuse is 3 A; do not apply this value to every CHIGEE model or to a third-party controller’s electronic current limit.

Use the ACC testing guide to identify a suitable source before connecting the yellow wire.

Check startup and shutdown

Test CHIGEE Display startup and shutdown before securing the wiring.

  1. With ignition on, confirm the display starts.

  2. Switch the ignition off. The yellow ACC signal should turn off while the red main supply remains connected.

  3. Check that the display follows its normal shutdown behavior. Supported parking or LTE functions also depend on the model, settings, battery voltage and network.

  4. Secure the wiring only after testing. Keep cables away from heat and moving parts.

If the display shuts off instantly, check the red main supply as well as the yellow ACC signal. See shutdown countdown and ride statistics.

Reuse a compatible battery-side cable

The SH0023 battery-side power cable is compatible with AIO-5 Lite, AIO-5 EVO, AIO-6 and XR-2. You can retain this compatible battery-side cable when changing between these models.

The shared battery-side cable does not make every connected part interchangeable. AIO-6 uses its own main wiring harness and AIO-6 cameras. Use those matching parts when upgrading from AIO-5 Lite or another supported model.

FAQs

Does the CHIGEE Display have a battery?

No. It has no rechargeable internal battery and needs external power through the appropriate harness, cradle or supported test connection.

What does the battery icon in CarPlay or Android Auto show?

It shows your phone’s battery level, not a battery inside the CHIGEE Display.

Can I connect yellow to constant battery power?

No. Yellow must detect ignition on and off. Connecting it to constant power can keep the display awake and increase battery use.
