If you cannot find an important clip, avoid formatting storage or deleting files. A live camera picture does not by itself confirm that a video was saved.
Preserve what is available
Park safely. Note the event date, approximate time and the time shown by the device. If you need to remove a microSD card, power the system off first. Copy the relevant files, including the clips before and after the event, and open the copies to confirm they play. Keep the originals unchanged while support reviews the issue.
Check the recording location
On camera-equipped displays with eMMC, inserting an SD card sends new recordings to the card but does not move earlier internal recordings. AIO-5 EVO records to microSD. Check Where your CHIGEE Display saves dashcam recordings and your model guide before assuming a clip has disappeared.
Look for locked footage
Use the display or app timeline to identify the event time. On the display models covered by Access locked emergency dashcam videos, computer access uses the normal front and rear folders rather than a separate emergency folder. For an XR-1, use View and save locked XR-1 videos.
Check why recording may have stopped
Normal loop recording replaces older unlocked files.
Locked clips use recording space. When locked files fill the storage on supported display models, new footage cannot be saved.
A missing, worn or incompatible card, a camera fault or interrupted power can prevent new files being saved.
On XR-1, app preview and downloading pause recording. Do not assume that the period visible in the app was also saved.
Do not assume these causes apply identically to every model. Tell us your model and what was happening during the missing period.
Resume recording after saving your files
Follow your model’s storage instructions. Format only after backing up the files you need and confirming the selected storage. After correcting a card or storage problem, record a short sample and check that it plays. A locked clip is protected from normal loop overwrite, not from formatting or storage failure.
If the issue continues, send the model, firmware, storage type and card details, event time, recording status and any exact error message. We cannot guarantee recovery of a file that was never saved or has already been overwritten.
