Install and set up your XR-1 dashcam

Prepare the card, mount and wire the XR-1, activate it in the app, and check the lights before your first ride.

Install and activate your XR-1 once, then it starts recording automatically with your motorcycle's ignition. Use the CHIGEE GO App to connect, adjust settings, and save footage.

Before you start

Use the XR-1 user manual alongside this guide for the installation diagrams.

  • A genuine U3-rated microSD card, up to 256 GB, purchased separately. Slow or unreliable cards can cause stuttering or missing recordings.

  • The CHIGEE GO App for activation and settings. XR-1 features are restricted until activation is complete.

  • An 11–18 V DC power supply on your motorcycle, with battery and accessory (ACC) ignition connections.

What comes in the standard kit?

The XR-1 standard kit contains:

  • 1 XR-1 main unit

  • 2 cameras, 2 camera mount clamps and 2 camera bases

  • 1 power cable with a 3 A fuse

  • 2 cable clips, 5 nylon cable ties and 2 Velcro straps

  • 4 pieces of 3M adhesive

  • 2 removal tools and 1 CHIGEE sticker

The microSD card and XR-1 Wired GPS Handlebar Controller are sold separately.

Install the XR-1

Mount the XR-1 cameras where they have a clear view of the road. Place the main unit in a protected location away from engine heat.

  1. Clean the camera mounting surfaces.

  2. Use the camera orientation mark to align each camera. Adjust the clamps and bendable bases for the view you need.

  3. Press the 3M VHB adhesive firmly for at least 10 seconds, then leave it for 30 minutes before use.

  4. Fit the microSD card in the main unit. Press the waterproof plug flush and securely tighten the T5 screw.

  5. Connect the cameras and power cable according to the XR-1 manual. Red goes to battery positive, black to battery negative, and yellow to the ACC terminal.

  6. After activation, check both camera views in the CHIGEE GO App and confirm that the XR-1 saves recordings.

Important: An incorrectly sealed microSD port compromises waterproofing. Water damage caused by improper sealing is not covered under warranty. The heatsink becomes hot in use; do not touch it while hot.

The XR-1 main unit is rated IP69K, and the cameras are rated IP68. These ratings depend on correct installation and sealing.

Activate and connect the XR-1

The CHIGEE GO App activates the XR-1 and provides its camera view, gallery and settings.

  1. Install the CHIGEE GO App and follow its XR-1 activation prompts.

  2. Select XR1-XXXX in the app. The last 4 characters match the serial number on the back of the main unit.

  3. Short-press the Photo button on the main unit to authorize the first phone connection. Previously connected phones are authorized automatically.

  4. Wait for the app's XR-1 home screen. You can then switch front and rear views, take photos, open the galleries, view riding data or change settings.

The XR-1 uses a direct 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection for video access. Stay within approximately 8–10 m of the motorcycle for a stable connection. This is Wi-Fi, not a cellular data service; the XR-1 does not need a SIM card or monthly data plan.

If activation fails or you connect but cannot see camera images, contact us with the firmware version, phone model, app version and a screenshot or video of the problem.

View and save XR-1 footage

The XR-1 saves consecutive 2-minute clips. The clip length is fixed and cannot be changed.

  • In the app: Connect to the XR-1 over Wi-Fi, open the device gallery, and preview or download the clips you need. Transfer speeds can exceed 10 MB/s under suitable conditions.

  • On a computer: Power off the XR-1, remove the microSD card, and use a card reader. The recordings are MP4 files. If your media player cannot open a file, try another MP4 player such as PotPlayer.

Loop recording overwrites the oldest unlocked files when storage fills. Collision locking protects the current clip when triggered; a short press of Lock also protects the current clip. Download important footage before formatting the card.

Use View and save locked XR-1 videos to locate protected files. See Change XR-1 dashcam settings for video options and Set up parking monitoring on the XR-1 for recording after you park.

Important: Formatting erases the microSD card, including locked recordings. Back up the files you need before holding Photo for 10 seconds. Do not force-restart the XR-1 during a firmware installation.

Formatting the card about every 3 months helps maintain recording performance. If the red light stays solid, check for a missing or unformatted card and disconnected cameras. If the fault continues, contact us with the card brand and capacity, firmware version and exact alert.

Add the optional GPS handlebar controller

The XR-1 Wired GPS Handlebar Controller adds handlebar controls and Global Positioning System (GPS) ride data.

  • Press its buttons to lock a clip or take a photo, and use its indicator to check status.

  • Record route, ride time and distance with your clips, then review your rides in the CHIGEE GO App.

  • Add GPS speed, location and route overlays when exporting from the app.

The controller connects by cable to the XR-1 and draws power through the main unit, so it has no battery to charge. Included brackets support handlebar or mirror mounting, with the supplied 3M adhesive. The controller is rated IP69.
