Short answer: For full functionality (e.g., remote camera access on camera models, LTE features on LTE models, and Parking Monitor), we recommend the factory method: wire the CHIGEE Display power harness directly to the motorcycle battery (+ / −) and to an ACC/ignition sense line exactly as described in the CHIGEE Display user manual. Using a third-party power manager (e.g., HEX ezCAN; similar products include Denali CANsmart, ThunderBox) can work, but misconfiguration or “ignition-only” power may break features that require continuous power after engine-off.
Using a Power Manager (e.g., HEX ezCAN) — Two Proven Ways
Method 1 — ezCAN Only (Switched Accessory Output Powers the Display)
Use when you want an ignition-switched install and don’t need Parking Monitor after key-off.
Wiring (example on ezCAN accessory plug):
ezCAN channel setup (typical):
- Function/profile: Accessory / Ignition-switched
Virtual fuse: 3–5 A (camera/LTE models → aim 5 A)
Soft-start / inrush limiting: ON
Power-off delay: 5–10 s (lets recordings stop cleanly)
Method 2 — Hybrid (Battery Direct + ACC from ezCAN)
Use when you want full features and stable always-on power, but prefer ezCAN to provide the ignition signal.
Wiring:
CHIGEE Red (+12 V main) → battery positive (+) (add a 2–3 A inline fuse near the battery)
CHIGEE Black (GND) → battery negative (−)
CHIGEE Yellow (ACC/IGN) → ezCAN “colored” switched wire (the ignition-switched output)
Do not tie Red and Yellow together in this method. Red stays on the battery; Yellow goes to the ezCAN switched lead.
Important limitations: This method is provided as an example only. Because third-party managers differ, we cannot guarantee that Method 2 will deliver Parking Monitor or remote wake/camera behavior on your motorcycle. Channel logic, sleep timing, and voltage thresholds are manager-specific—confirm with the power-manager vendor before wiring.
