CHIGEE Display on BMW Nav Prep Does Not Turn Off Automatically

CHIGEE Display on BMW Nav Prep Does Not Turn Off Automatically

Applies to:
  1. AIO-5 Play for BMW plugged directly into BMW Nav Prep
  2. AIO-6 with BMW Quick-Release Module plugged into BMW Nav Prep
If your CHIGEE Display stays powered on even after you've turned off your motorcycle, here's what you need to know:

Normal Operation

Under normal conditions, switching off your motorcycle should also shut down the BMW Nav Prep cradle — which in turn powers off the CHIGEE Display automatically. In this case, the Display will not continue draining your battery.

If you have not installed cameras or additional cables, then as soon as the engine is off, the BMW Nav Prep cradle loses power, and the CHIGEE Display will shut down completely with no risk of battery drain.

If you have installed cameras with additional cabling, you must ensure the wiring is correct — especially the ACC cable. The ACC cable must be connected to a circuit that switches on and off with the ignition. If it is connected incorrectly, the CHIGEE Display and cameras may continue to draw power directly from the battery even after the engine is off, which can lead to unnecessary battery drain.

Known BMW Behavior

BMW motorcycles also have a built-in ACC shutdown delay. After the ignition is turned off, the ACC (Accessory) power supply does not switch off immediately but typically takes about one minute to fully shut down. This is a known BMW-specific behavior and is not related to the CHIGEE Display’s ACC function.

Possible Cause

If the display remains on after turning off the bike, the issue may lie with the ACC (Accessory) control function in your BMW Nav Prep.
In some cases, the Nav Prep continues to supply power even when the ignition is off, preventing the CHIGEE Display from shutting down.

We recommend checking your wiring first if you are using additional cameras and ensuring the ACC cable is properly connected. If the wiring is correct and the issue persists, replacing the BMW Nav Prep cradle may be necessary, as the problem is related to the cradle’s internal power management and not the CHIGEE device.
