When your CHIGEE Display powers on through a BMW Nav Prep cradle but shows no BMW vehicle data, check cradle compatibility, electrical connections and the BMW data interface. Power and Wonder Wheel control can work even when native data reading does not.
Check whether this guide applies
This guide applies when your BMW motorcycle supports native data reading and you use one of these setups:
AIO-5 Play for BMW connected directly to BMW Nav Prep.
AIO-6 with the BMW Quick-Release Module connected to BMW Nav Prep.
See CHIGEE Display compatibility with BMW cradles to check your setup. If you use CGRC LIN through the BMW 3-pin navigation port, native data reading may be limited by your specific BMW model.
Try these checks first
Check your motorcycle’s electrical system. Confirm the battery voltage is stable and look for loose wiring or intermittent connections. If you suspect an ECU or vehicle electrical fault, ask a BMW dealer to inspect it.
Confirm that your motorcycle has a genuine BMW Nav Prep 5 or Nav Prep 6 cradle. Aftermarket or modified cradles may cause power or data communication problems.
Power off and remove the CHIGEE Display, then inspect and clean the metal contacts on the cradle and the relevant 3-pin connectors. Refit the display securely.
Open the Advanced Dashboard on your CHIGEE Display and check whether BMW data appears. If data appears only when the display is gently pressed into the cradle, the cradle contacts may not be making reliable contact. Have the cradle inspected and consider replacement if needed.
Identify what the BMW interface shows
The interface shown on your CHIGEE Display helps narrow down the cause, but it does not by itself confirm every part of the setup is working.
Red standard interface
If the CHIGEE Display shows the red standard interface instead of the blue BMW interface, the cradle may not be transmitting BMW data. Test the display on another BMW motorcycle with a known-working Nav Prep cradle, or have the cradle inspected.
Blue BMW interface but no data
If the blue BMW interface appears but no vehicle data is displayed, the cradle may be connected while the data contacts or BMW data interface are not providing the required information. Clean and check the contacts first.
Some BMW models, especially certain models produced before 2017, may not provide the required data on the LIN bus. In that case, the CHIGEE Display cannot show data that the motorcycle does not transmit through that interface.
Only some data appears
If the CHIGEE Display shows some BMW data but not other readings, the cradle and display are communicating. The missing readings may depend on which sensors or data signals your BMW model provides.
Contact us if the problem continues
If your CHIGEE Display still cannot read BMW data after these checks, contact us with your BMW motorcycle model and year, CHIGEE Display model, connection method, firmware version, and a photo or video showing the interface and missing data.
