Unable to Connect iPhone to Chigee Display via Wireless CarPlay

Unable to Connect iPhone to Chigee Display via Wireless CarPlay

If your iPhone cannot connect to the Chigee Display using wireless CarPlay, the problem is usually related to Bluetooth/Wi-Fi pairing, iPhone settings, or iOS firmware.

How Wireless CarPlay Works

CarPlay uses a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for connection:

  1. Bluetooth establishes the initial pairing between your iPhone and the Chigee Display.
  2. After pairing, your iPhone automatically switches to a Wi-Fi direct connection with the Chigee Display for screen mirroring and CarPlay operation.
  3. Audio, visuals, and touch controls are transmitted over Wi-Fi for real-time interaction.

Step-by-Step Checklist

1. Allow CarPlay for CHIGEE

  • Go to Settings > General > CarPlay > My Car
  • Select CHIGEE and make sure CarPlay is turned ON

2. Enable Siri

  • Go to Settings > Siri & Search
  • Enable “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’”
  • Enable “Allow Siri When Locked”
⚠️ CarPlay requires Siri to be available even when the iPhone screen is locked.

3. Turn Off Focus Mode

  • Disable Do Not Disturb, Driving Mode, or other Focus Modes that may block CarPlay.
  • You can do this in Settings > Focus or from Control Center.

4. Check Screen Time Restrictions

  • Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions
  • Ensure that CarPlay is allowed.

5. Disable VPN Services

  • If a VPN is active, temporarily turn it off. VPNs can interfere with CarPlay connectivity.

6. Turn off Networking & Wireless in System Services

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services
  • Toggle Networking & Wireless OFF.

7. Disable Apple Intelligence

  • Go to Settings > General > Siri & Spotlight > Apple Intelligence
  • Switch Apple Intelligence OFF to prevent possible conflicts with CarPlay connectivity.

8. Optimize iPhone Wi-Fi & Cellular Settings

  • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi:
    • Enable WAPI.
    • Set Ask to Join NetworksOff.
    • Set Auto-Join HotspotNever.
    • Tap the “i” icon next to the CHIGEE-XXXX Wi-Fi and:
      • Turn off Limit IP Address Tracking
      • Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address
  • Personal Hotspot: Enable Maximize Compatibility.
  • Cellular: Disable Wi-Fi Assist.

9. Complete Reset Process

On your CHIGEE device:

  • Go to Settings > Reset to reset the device.
  • Enter the CarLink interface, Select CarPlay on CHIGEE Display

On your iPhone:

  1. Restart your iPhone
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, and forget all CHIGEE-related Bluetooth devices.
  3. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and forget all CHIGEE-related devices.
  4. Turn off Wi-Fi (ensure you’re not connected to any Wi-Fi network).
  5. Reconnect Bluetooth and tap "Pair""Allow""Turn on WLAN & Connect".
⚠️ Important: Do not select "Use Bluetooth Only".
  6. Restart your iPhone.
  7. Try reconnecting to your CHIGEE device again.

Advanced Fix (Full Reset Solution)

If CarPlay still does not connect after completing the checklist, proceed with the following Advanced Fix:

  1. Change your iPhone name
    • Go to Settings > General > About > Name
    • Rename your iPhone (avoid special characters or emojis).
  2. Turn off Apple Watch and disconnect other devices
    • Ensure your iPhone is not paired with an Apple Watch or other Bluetooth devices.
  3. Reset iPhone network settings
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    • Your iPhone will restart and clear saved Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connections.
  4. Change your iPhone name again after reset
    • After the reset, rename your iPhone once more to ensure a clean CarPlay pairing.
  5. Reconnect to Chigee Display
    • After renaming and disabling Apple Intelligence, reconnect your iPhone to the Chigee Display to establish a fresh CarPlay connection.

If the Problem Persists

If CarPlay still cannot connect after completing the above steps:

  • Test with another iPhone to confirm whether the issue is specific to your iPhone.
  • Provide the following details to Chigee Support:
    • iPhone model
    • iOS version
    • Chigee Display SN number
  • At the same time, contact Apple Support and ask them to check whether there are any iPhone settings or restrictions preventing CarPlay from connecting.
