Change the Wi-Fi channel on your CHIGEE Display

Change the 5 GHz channel used for phone mirroring, check feature requirements, and reconnect CarPlay or Android Auto.

Wi-Fi channel switching changes the 5 GHz wireless channel used for phone mirroring on your CHIGEE Display. If CarPlay, Android Auto or another supported phone-mirroring connection is unstable, try a different available channel. If the connection is stable, leave the setting unchanged.

Before you start

  • Regional version: This option is for supported global-version displays. It is not available on Japan-version models.

  • Wi-Fi band: Channel switching works on 5 GHz. Turn off 2.4G AP; the channel option is hidden while 2.4 GHz AP mode is enabled.

  • Firmware: Your display must have firmware that includes channel switching. Check the references below if the option is missing.

Make these changes while parked. Changing the channel may require you to reconnect phone mirroring.

Change and test the channel

  1. Open CarLink on your CHIGEE Display, then tap the settings gear.

  2. Turn off 2.4G AP if it is enabled.

  3. Open the Wi-Fi channel option and select a different channel from the available list.

  4. Reconnect your phone using CarPlay, Android Auto or the supported mirroring mode you normally use.

  5. Check whether the connection remains stable. If it still disconnects, test another available channel one at a time.

If CarLink opens the active mirroring session instead of its settings, disconnect phone mirroring first. You can temporarily turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the phone, open the CarLink settings, then turn them back on to reconnect after changing the channel.

The screenshot below shows the channel setting. Use the options available on your display.

Channel availability and interference vary with the country, phone and surroundings. Compare channels in the same location where possible, and keep the one that gives your phone a stable connection.

If the channel option is missing

  1. Check that your display is a supported global-version model.

  2. Return to CarLink > Settings and confirm that 2.4G AP is off.

  3. Check your firmware version and the release notes for your model.

Channel switching was documented in these releases:

Display

Firmware reference

AIO-6

v1.7.5 beta

AIO-5 Play

v1.7.7 beta

AIO-5 Lite

v3.5.7

These are feature-reference releases, not instructions to install an older version. If your installed firmware already includes channel switching, no downgrade is needed.

Update firmware if needed

  1. Open Settings > System Update.

  2. If the release you need is a beta, enable Check for beta firmware.

  3. Tap Check update and follow the download and installation prompts.

  4. After the update and restart are complete, return to CarLink > Settings and check the channel option again.

Use the required SD card and stable power supply described in the firmware update guide.

FAQs

Which Wi-Fi channel should I choose?

There is no single best channel for every country and phone. Test the available channels one at a time and keep the most stable option.

Do I need to change channels if phone mirroring works normally?

No. Leave the setting unchanged if your connection is stable.

Will changing the channel fix every disconnection?

No. It is one check for an unstable wireless mirroring connection. If the problem continues, note your display model, firmware version, phone model and the channels tested, then contact us.
