Use the supplied SR-1 harness and follow the wiring diagram in the SR-1 user manual. We recommend the standard battery and ACC connections below.
Standard wiring
Red: battery positive (+).
Black: battery negative (−).
Yellow: the motorcycle’s ACC connection.
The specified input is 12–18 V DC. Keep the original 3A inline fuse in the harness.
If you’re unsure which connection is ACC on your motorcycle, ask your installer to identify it before wiring.
Using an accessory power controller
For another rider’s experience, watch AdvExplorerOz’s SR-1 installation and road test. The video includes an installation using a HEX ezCAN on a BMW R1250R.
How AdvExplorerOz installed it
On his BMW R1250R, AdvExplorerOz used the following setup:
He mounted the radar at the rear of the motorcycle, with a clear view behind the bike.
He routed the wiring along the existing navigation-mount cable route to keep it tucked away.
He connected the SR-1 power wiring to a HEX ezCAN accessory controller rather than directly to the battery.
In the ezCAN software, he set that accessory circuit’s electronic fuse limit to 7.5A.
He set the circuit to switch off 10 seconds after the ignition was turned off.
The 7.5A setting refers to his ezCAN output circuit. It does not mean replacing the SR-1’s original 3A inline fuse with a 7.5A fuse.
This is a user-tested setup, shared for reference. Research the wiring and controller settings for your own motorcycle before attempting a similar installation. We recommend following the standard wiring in the SR-1 manual.
The controller settings shown in the video are specific to that installation. They are not instructions to change the SR-1 inline fuse or join wires on every controller.
FAQs
Can I power SR-1 from USB?
USB power, including a USB-to-12 V converter, is not a supported SR-1 installation method. Use the supplied harness and the standard battery and ACC connections.
Where can I get a replacement power cable?
The SR-1 Power Cable is sold separately. For the rest of the setup, see the SR-1 getting started guide.
