Chigee Display Storage Usage: eMMC vs SD Card

The Chigee Display dashcam uses both internal eMMC storage and an external SD card for recording. The storage behavior depends on when and whether an SD card is inserted.

Default Storage Logic

  • No SD card inserted → The device records to the internal eMMC storage.

  • SD card inserted → The device automatically switches and records to the SD card.

After Using Without an SD Card

If you have been using the Chigee Display for some time without an SD card, all dashcam recordings will be stored in the internal eMMC memory. When you insert an SD card later, new recordings will go to the SD card, but the eMMC will still show as almost full.

This is normal behavior—the space is likely occupied by previously recorded dashcam footage.

What You Can Do

  • Format the eMMC to clear old recordings once you have an SD card installed.

  • Continue recording on the SD card, which will now be the active storage.

Recommended SD Card Specifications

To ensure smooth recording and reliable detection, use a high-speed TF card that meets these specs:

  • Class: U3 / A2 / V30

  • Capacity: up to 256 GB
