SD card requirements for your CHIGEE Display

Which CHIGEE models need an SD card, what it is used for, and the card requirements for camera and non-camera models.

The CHIGEE Display models listed below do not include an SD card. Choose a card for your model and whether you use cameras:

  • AIO-6 Series → No SD card included.

  • AIO-5 Lite/EVO → No SD card included.

  • XR-2 → No SD card included.

  • AIO-5 Play Series → No SD card included.

Why you need an SD card

Use an SD card for:

  • Firmware updates

  • Dashcam video recording (if cameras are used)

An SD card is required for firmware updates. For recording, camera-equipped models with eMMC save to internal storage when no card is inserted and switch new recordings to an inserted card. EVO models have no eMMC recording storage and require an SD card. Existing eMMC recordings remain stored after a card is inserted.

The SD card requirements vary depending on your CHIGEE device and whether you’re using a camera. Please refer to the details below:

For AIO-6 (with camera), AIO-5 Lite, XR-3 and XR-2

You will need a U3-rated microSD card to ensure proper recording performance and stability.

Functions:

For AIO-6 (without camera), AIO-5 Play, and AIO-5 Play for BMW

Without cameras, the SD card is only used for firmware updates. We recommend a 32 GB U3 microSD card from a known brand.

The AIO-5 Play and AIO-5 Play for BMW can also use an 8 GB card, but choose a U3 card, because low-quality 8 GB cards can make firmware updates fail.

Functions:

Additional notes

  • SD cards cannot be used to store music or video files.

  • GPX files cannot be imported via SD card.

  • Always format the SD card using the CHIGEE Display before first use

  • Avoid using low-speed or unbranded cards, which may cause recording or upgrade failures

  • For devices with cameras, U3 speed class is strongly recommended for smooth video writing
