The XR-1 dash cam updates its firmware through the CHIGEE GO app on your phone. Because the XR-1 has no screen, there is no on-device update option—everything is done from the app. You can install the latest official firmware, or opt into an early beta (test) version. Beta firmware gives you new features sooner, but it may contain unexpected bugs even after internal testing.
Before you start
Steps to update (official firmware)
- Open the CHIGEE GO app and connect to your XR-1 dash cam.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page to find Firmware Version, which shows the version currently installed.
- Tap Check for Updates.
- If a newer firmware is available, follow the on-screen prompt to download and install it. Wait for the process to finish—the dash cam will restart on its own.
Try the beta (test) version — optional
Beta firmware is early access. You get new features sooner, but you may run into unexpected issues.
- In Settings, scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Check Beta Version (just below the Check for Updates button).
- Follow the prompt to install the available test firmware.
Tips
Keep the dash cam powered for the entire update; interrupting it can cause the update to fail.
If an update fails or gets stuck, restart both the dash cam and the app, then try again.
