When you use CarPlay or Android Auto, your contacts, messages, music and maps stay on your phone. The CHIGEE Display shows and controls them, but it doesn't save them. Some other features do store or send data, such as dashcam recordings, the CHIGEE GO App account and the 4G features of the AIO-6 LTE.
CarPlay and Android Auto
CarPlay and Android Auto run on your phone. Your phone sends the CarPlay or Android Auto screen to the CHIGEE Display over Wi-Fi, and the CHIGEE Display sends your touches back. Your contacts, messages, music, maps and app data stay on your phone, and the CHIGEE Display doesn't save them.
To choose which apps appear on CarPlay, go to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone, tap your CHIGEE Display and tap Customize. On Android, use Customize launcher in the Android Auto settings. CarPlay and Android Auto don't need the CHIGEE GO App or a CHIGEE account.
Data stored on the CHIGEE Display
These features save data on the CHIGEE Display itself:
Dashcam recordings: on models with a dashcam, recordings are saved to the microSD card in the CHIGEE Display. You view or download them with the CHIGEE GO App over the CHIGEE Display's Wi-Fi.
Paired phones: the CHIGEE Display remembers the phones you've connected, so it can reconnect automatically. You can delete them under Pairing Records in the Car Link settings.
On an iPhone, the CHIGEE-XXXX LE Bluetooth connection lets the CHIGEE Display show your notifications, such as messages and app alerts.
Before you sell or give away your CHIGEE Display
To remove your data from the CHIGEE Display before it goes to someone else:
Format the microSD card in Settings > Storage > Format SD card, or remove the card.
Reset the CHIGEE Display in Settings > Reset. This clears old pairing data and restores factory settings.
Unbind the CHIGEE Display from your CHIGEE GO App account. Unbinding permanently erases that CHIGEE Display's historical data in your account. See Unbind a CHIGEE Display from your CHIGEE GO App account.
Data in the CHIGEE GO App
You need the CHIGEE GO App for dashcam and 4G features. The CHIGEE GO App uses the following data:
Account: you sign up with your email address, and adding your CHIGEE Display binds it to your account with its serial number.
Phone permissions: the CHIGEE GO App asks for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Location, Photos and Notifications so it can work with your CHIGEE Display.
Riding log data: riding log data that the CHIGEE GO App syncs from the CHIGEE Display stays on the phone where it was saved and isn't backed up to the cloud. Uninstalling the CHIGEE GO App deletes it.
Deleting your account: unbind your CHIGEE Display before you delete your CHIGEE GO App account. Otherwise, the CHIGEE Display stays bound to the deleted account, and you'll need CHIGEE Support to unbind it.
For more about accounts and binding, see CHIGEE GO App account and device binding rules.
Data sent over 4G on the AIO-6 LTE
The AIO-6 LTE has a built-in SIM card and sends some data over 4G, so that you can see it in the CHIGEE GO App:
Riding data: about every 10 seconds while you ride, and more often in turns.
Status data: about every 3 hours after you turn off the motorcycle, while the battery voltage is above the protection voltage.
Vibration alarms: when parking monitoring detects vibration, if Vibration Alarm is turned on in the CHIGEE GO App.
Live video: only while you use 4G Live.
For details, see AIO-6 voltage protection and LTE networking.
Debug logs
The CHIGEE Display uploads debug logs only when you turn on debug mode and tap Upload Logs, usually when we ask for them to investigate a problem. Debug logs are text files with system records that help our engineers find the cause. See Upload logs for CHIGEE Display troubleshooting.
