Fit and use a CHIGEE Display in a BMW cradle

Identify your BMW cradle, check power and fitment, then secure or move your CHIGEE Display between compatible motorcycles.

A compatible BMW cradle can hold and power an AIO-5 Play for BMW, or an AIO-6 Max or AIO-6 LTE fitted with BMW Quick-Release Module. Check the exact cradle and motorcycle configuration before fitting or moving your display.

Identify your cradle

The table below compares BMW cradle types for supported CHIGEE Display installations. Check both the front bezel and locking mechanism; similar mounting dimensions do not confirm compatibility.

Cradle

How to identify it

CHIGEE mounting result

BMW Nav Prep 5 or 6

Navigator V or VI mount with a mechanical key lock and no front-bezel buttons

Supported with the display configurations below

BMW ConnectedRide keyless mount

Motor-operated lock and no front-bezel buttons; fitted to many 2024–2026 models

Check the exact part and keyless mount firmware requirements

Older four-button Navigator cradle

Front-bezel buttons marked with plus, minus or page/menu functions

Not supported

Use this cradle-identification image as a visual reference. Confirm the exact part if its buttons or lock differ from these descriptions.

Check an exact Garmin mount

The name AMPS does not establish that a Garmin mount works with a CHIGEE Display. The exact cradle, connector and motorcycle connection determine compatibility.

  1. Find the full Garmin part number and a clear photo of the cradle and connector.

  2. Ask Garmin which displays and electrical connections that part supports.

  3. Compare the part with the CHIGEE Display’s required BMW cradle and motorcycle connection.

Garmin lists AMPS Rugged Mount part 010-12881-08. That name alone does not confirm CHIGEE fitment, BMW data or Wonder Wheel support. If compatibility is unclear, contact Garmin before buying. You can also contact us with your display, BMW model and year, and mount details.

Check fitment and power

The table below lists the CHIGEE Display configurations used with supported BMW cradles. Other display models need their own supported mounting arrangement.

CHIGEE Display

Required backplate or module

AIO-5 Play for BMW

Built-in BMW cradle connection

AIO-6 Max or AIO-6 LTE

BMW Quick-Release Module

These BMW-cradle setups have no built-in battery. They need a compatible powered cradle or another power source supported for the exact model. Mounting, power, vehicle data and Wonder Wheel control are separate checks.

Use the BMW setup guide to check the complete configuration. Integrated K1600 cockpits have additional space limits; review the K1600 mounting options. If the display will not start, follow the BMW cradle startup checks before choosing a replacement part.

A motorcycle without an original cradle

The BMW Electromagnetic Quick-Release Cradle is an option where a compatible BMW connector and enough mounting space are available. Use its supplied Ø12–16 mm crossbar clamp. It is not a generic two-wire 12 V mount and cannot add data or control signals that the motorcycle lacks.

Follow the electromagnetic cradle installation guide. The K1600GT with a 10.25-inch TFT lacks the required installation space. A BMW-cradle backplate cannot attach directly to a universal mount; check the AIO-5 Play for BMW reuse options before choosing another bracket.

Secure the display

Use the original key to secure a CHIGEE Display in a compatible mechanical BMW Nav Prep cradle:

  1. Park the motorcycle before fitting the display.

  2. Seat the CHIGEE Display fully in the compatible cradle.

  3. Lock the BMW Nav Prep cradle with its original key.

  4. Gently check the display. It should remain secure in the locked cradle.

Electric and keyless cradles use different release mechanisms. For the CHIGEE BMW Electromagnetic Quick-Release Cradle, follow its installation and locking guide. For an original BMW keyless mount, follow the instructions for that exact BMW part.

Move the display between motorcycles

You can move an AIO-5 Play for BMW, or an AIO-6 Max or AIO-6 LTE with BMW Quick-Release Module, between compatible BMW motorcycles. Each motorcycle needs a supported cradle and configuration.

  1. Park both motorcycles.

  2. Release the CHIGEE Display using the instructions for its exact cradle.

  3. Fit and secure the display in the destination motorcycle’s compatible cradle.

  4. Check that the display powers on and that the expected control and data functions work.

For a compatible installation, no separate transfer setup is required. A cradle that fits does not establish that every BMW reading or control function is supported on the destination motorcycle.
