CHIGEE Displays support multiple power input methods, depending on the model. If your display is not powering on, follow the steps below to identify and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Confirm Power Supply
First, provide power to the device using any of the supported methods below. Observe whether the screen backlight turns on:
All CHIGEE models: Direct power cable to motorcycle battery, USB power
AIO-5 Play for BMW, AIO-6 with BMW Quick-Release Module: BMW Navigation Cradle
AIO-6 with CG Quick-Release Module: CG Quick-Release Module (connected to battery)
If the backlight does not turn on, the device may not be receiving power. Try switching to another power method to isolate the problem.
Step 2: Isolate the Power Source Issue
Case 1: Cable/Quick-Release powers on device, but USB does not
Likely issue: Faulty USB cable, adapter, or output power
✅ Try a different USB-A to USB-C USB cable and power source
Case 2: USB powers on device, but direct battery connection does not
Likely issue: Incorrect wiring or battery issue
✅ Check wiring connections and confirm battery is functional
✅ Try replacing the power cable:
For AIO-5 Lite and XR-2: use the long standard power cable
For AIO-6 series: use the short Quick-Release power cable
Case 3: USB powers device, but CG Quick-Release does not
Possibly either the CG Quick-Release Module or the main power cable is faulty
✅ Test by directly connecting AIO-6 to the motorcycle battery:
If the device powers on: the CG Quick-Release Module is faulty → replace it
If the device still does not power on: the power cable is faulty → replace the cable
Case 4: BMW Navigation Cradle does not power on device
✅ Try mounting the device on another BMW motorcycle that has a BMW Navigation Cradle installed:
If the display powers on: the issue is with your original BMW cradle
If it still does not power on: further diagnosis needed
✅ To check whether the BMW Quick-Release Module itself or AIO-6 is faulty:
Connect all wiring and run a direct test:
Connect the red and yellow wires of the power cable to the battery’s positive terminal
Connect the black wire to the battery’s negative terminal
If the device powers on: the BMW Quick-Release Module is faulty → replace it
If the device does not power on: the issue may be with the main unit itself → replace it
Step 3: If Backlight Turns On — Firmware Recovery
If the screen backlight turns on using any power method, your device is receiving power. If it still fails to boot properly:
The issue may be firmware-related (e.g., failed update)
✅ Perform a manual firmware downgrade following the official update procedure
If the device still does not start, please record a video of the update steps and send it to CHIGEE Support for review.
Step 4: No Backlight With Any Power Method?
If none of the above power sources result in a backlight turning on:
Your display may have a hardware issue
✅ Contact CHIGEE Support and include a video showing:
The various power methods you attempted
The device showing no signs of life
